Hammer & Steel seeks to hire a Manual Machinist to join our team in Benicia, California.
Shift: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm
Responsibilities
As a Manual Machinist, you will run manual machines, including conventional open face lathes, horizontal/vertical mills, drill presses and other shop equipment, to produce routine and non-routine finished products.
Skill Requirements
Candidates should have:

Proficiency in operating multiple types of commonly used fabrication machines (lathe, drill press, etc.) to produce routine and non-routine finished products.

Ability to read and review sample drawings, blueprints, and instructions to understand requirements in order to complete assignments.

Familiarity with materials commonly used in industrial fabrication processes (structural steel, aluminum, bronze, etc.) and ability to adjust machine settings accordingly

Ability to monitor machines and adjust settings when needed (feed, temperature maintenance) to identify potential issues as project progresses.

Capable of working in conjunction with other departments (sales, service, parts departments) in a team setting.

Maintain and foster safe workplace practices.
Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED
-
Three (3) or more years of related experience and/or training with manual machining.

Must be able to read and understand blueprints, drawing or other specifications.

Ability to use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, etc.

Pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
Compensation
- Hourly wage range: $35 - $40/hr based on experience and education
