Hammer & Steel seeks to hire a Manual Machinist to join our team in Benicia, California.  
 
Shift: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm
 
Responsibilities

As a Manual Machinist, you will run manual machines, including conventional open face lathes, horizontal/vertical mills, drill presses and other shop equipment, to produce routine and non-routine finished products.

Skill Requirements
 
Candidates should have:
  • Proficiency in operating multiple types of commonly used fabrication machines (lathe, drill press, etc.) to produce routine and non-routine finished products.
  • Ability to read and review sample drawings, blueprints, and instructions to understand requirements in order to complete assignments.
  • Familiarity with materials commonly used in industrial fabrication processes (structural steel, aluminum, bronze, etc.) and ability to adjust machine settings accordingly
  • Ability to monitor machines and adjust settings when needed (feed, temperature maintenance) to identify potential issues as project progresses.
  • Capable of working in conjunction with other departments (sales, service, parts departments) in a team setting.
  • Maintain and foster safe workplace practices.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three (3) or more years of related experience and/or training with manual machining.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, drawing or other specifications.
  • Ability to use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, etc.
  • Pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
Compensation
  • Hourly wage range: $35 - $40/hr based on experience and education
