Overview

Hammer & Steel Global, LLC, founded in 1989, is a leading supplier of pile driving and drilling equipment for foundation and shoring construction projects in the United States of America seeks qualified candidates for the position of Director of Service Operations (Heavy Construction Equipment) to be based in Sparta, New Jersey. This customer-facing role will oversee company operations in the Northeast United States with a high customer concentration in the New York City area.

Responsibilities
Our Director of Operations (Heavy Construction Equipment) will oversee the service company, fabrication operations, steel sheet piling yard and OEM parts department.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to field and in-house technicians, machinists and welders who maintain and service the company’s portfolio of piling, pile driving and drilling equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with external and internal customers including sales, service, parts and administrative departments.
  • Track and analyze labor and equipment utilization to set service and fabrication schedules.
  • Assist in the ongoing reengineer and implementation of business processes and systems.
  • Maintain and foster a work-safe, clean and well-organized facility by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures while complying with best practices and legal regulations.
  • Assist in implementing corporate growth strategies including potentially opening new locations in the Northeast and MidAtlantic United States.
  • Travel to meet with customers, their job sites, and other company facilities as required for company business.
Skill Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (highly preferred) in mechanical or civil engineering, Construction / Project Management, Business or related field in addition to 8-10 years of relevant work and supervisory experience.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Suite of Products including Excel, Word and Office required.
  • Prior experience with a foundation contractor, heavy equipment distributor or in a mechanical role desired, but not required.
  • Project management background a plus.
  • Six Sigma Certification (Black or Green Belt), desired but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving history.
