Installing auger cast piles requires equipment consisting of a mobile base carrier fitted with a hollow-stemmed flight
auger. The auger is drilled into the ground to the desired depth and then concrete is pushed through the auger as it
is taken out of the ground.
Auger casting is primarily used when installing piles in soft ground that is relatively free of obstructions like
tree roots, rocks, and boulders. The process allows one to install a variety of bored piles in a number of diameters
that can penetrate through a multitude of soil conditions.
